From the century - long evolution of photography technology to the explosion of generative AI, humanity has been constantly verifying that the true value of an invention lies in its social application.

When algorithms can analyze poetic language and conjure images from trillions of data, the narrative power has shifted from the professional realm to mass creation... This doesn't mean the demise of art. Instead, it has given rise to a new mode of creation. Artists approach eternity through infinitely iterative image sequences, reconstructing originality in the age of mechanical reproduction.

What we are witnessing at this moment is not a subversion of visual productivity, but an awakening of imagination that reshapes the dimension of perception.

Tidal Echoes

Tidal Echoes is a immersive installation that blends visual abstraction with real field recordings , aiming to capture the essence of the seaside landscape .

Inspired by Impressionist painters . Milkorva employs generative processes to create ever - evolving visuals reminiscent of ocean waves . Each visual element is meticulously crafted through complex algorithms , creating a fluid and dynamic representation of the marine environment . The installation ' s core lies in its ability to evoke mental imagery of the sea and redefine its visual boundaries

In collaboration with sound engineer Paul Kusnierek , sounds captured during a seaside field recording session are integrated into the installation , giving rise to an audio - reactive experience . The intensity and movement of the visuals directly correlate with the layers of sound , creating a harmonious fusion of the figurative and the abstract .

Despite its abstract nature , Tidal Echoes manages to evoke the ocean through color , movement . and accompanying ndsofferingviewers a striking illusion of witnessing the sea .

Through generative art , Milkorva challenges traditional perceptions of reality , inviting audiences to reconsider their understanding of the natural world . Celebrating the complexities of nature .

"Critically Extant" is a generative art installation that reveals our limited knowledge of endangered species through searchable data and attempts to find ways to save them.

To achieve this goal, researchers trained artificial intelligence algorithms using millions of open - source images of nature and data of approximately ten thousand species. Subsequently, the generated models were used to create visual representations of species that are critically endangered yet have little or no information available online, especially on social media. The goal of this project is not only to explore the boundaries of our knowledge but also to investigate how to establish a feedback loop beneficial to the natural world in the digital realm.

This project was launched in the form of an Instagram exhibition to increase people's awareness of the showcased species and potentially encourage their participation in relevant conservation actions. Naturally, since the data we can obtain only accounts for a small portion of the currently estimated actual number of known species, the dynamic specimens presented in this series of works may bear some resemblance, little resemblance, or even no resemblance at all to the species they are supposed to depict. This reflects the problem in AI - generated creations that it's impossible to fully restore the images. However, this should also be the reason for us to take action: because we can all create and contribute both in the real world and in the digital realm, and thus actively strive to form new feedback loops, helping to bring critically endangered species into our daily lives and further find ways to protect them.

For You i Will Be an Island

Regarding the project "For You I Will Be an Island", the author said, "I used AI as an experimental tool, combined with my childhood memories of the Yangtze River, where I grew up, to create a series of animated visuals imagining what my hometown might look like in the future. AI's vision of the future doesn't seem optimistic. It repeatedly depicts my hometown being submerged in water or destroyed by rough waves, as if nature is reclaiming what we have taken for granted.

However, this serves as a call to action for a more sustainable future and sparks discussions about our collective responsibility towards nature. The title of the project, "For You I Will Be an Island", embodies a motherly nurturing essence. I sincerely hope that the Mother River will always be with us. No matter what the future holds, it can provide a safe haven for both her human offspring and other species, enabling all to survive.

Infinite・Images

When photography was first born, there was intense debate over whether it could be regarded as art. Pictorialist photographers explored the artistic potential of the camera by distorting its function of objectively documenting the world. They staged scenes and experimented with effects to create subjective and expressive works. Subsequently, cameras were rapidly integrated into the artistic creation process, and sensor - based imaging technology was also widely applied in both the artistic and industrial fields.

Artificial intelligence - based imaging today follows a similar development trajectory. In the field of machine - learning - based imaging, the initial focus was on gaining recognition for this medium by accurately reflecting the training materials. Now that this issue has been resolved, it has laid the foundation for creative expression. Prompt - based systems like DALL·E have simplified the creation of AI - assisted subjective art. In the coming decades, such technologies are expected to be deeply integrated into artistic and industrial practices.

Charles Guilloux - L'allée d'eau (1895)

Charles Guilloux-L’alée d’eau (由 Holly Herndon & Mathew Dryhurst 用 DALL・E 扩展)

At present, there is an ongoing controversy over whether prompt - based AI imaging can be defined as art. However, similar to the development of photography, as these tools become more widespread, this debate will eventually become a thing of the past. While creating artworks has become increasingly easy, endowing works with uniqueness and meaning poses an even greater challenge. Great art often lies in the areas that have yet to be explored.

Once Upon a Garden

Once Upon A Garden ultimately makes a case for more even efforts in recording biodiversity loss across the globe. It also shows an alternative use of AI that demonstrates how this technology can hold a mirror to what we care to remember and therefore record. Incidentally, this mirror also shows us what gets left behind in the making of an increasingly more influential tool in our lives and societies.

There is no longer any doubt about the transformative potential of AI. Yet, its proliferation has also uncovered gaping holes in how and where data about humanity is collected, stored, and preserved. AI is only ever as good as the data it’s trained on. Still, there seems to be a clear unevenness in how much information AI has about non-Western ideas, contexts, people, and environments. This is evident in how common stereotypes and hallucinations are when interrogating generative AI tools today, be it language or image based.

Each chapter of Once Upon A Garden starts with the same foundational data: records of extinct and critically endangered flora from the Sahel region of West Africa, as classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. This means photographic records from the internet (seldom available), photographic records from physical archives (national archives, family photo books, journals, etc.), herbarium records, encyclopaedic records, and academic records. From these records, individual species are identified and tagged with all available information about it (texts and images).

Tech for Democracy

The "Tech for Democracy" art piece is trained on a dataset of human expressions regarding the future of democracy and technology. It is a visionary speculation about the utopias and dystopias of the future.

It utilizes AI and machine - learning algorithms to break through the limitations of imagination. The 30 - meter - long immersive installation premiered at the center of the UN City, providing the audience with a visceral audio - visual experience. At its core, it reflects on the phenomenon that humans allow technological development to determine their imagination of the future. Besides the physical display, the audience can also interact with the AI online, adding their own visions of the future to enrich the algorithm's future predictions and promote the development of the work.

Auntieverse

Auntie culture is a theme deeply rooted in everyday life where I grew up. The term "auntie" is widely used and understood—it refers to elder women in your family, but it’s also applied in broader, often less flattering ways. When someone is ageing, they’re called auntie. If they nag, they’re called auntie. Outdated, old-fashioned taste? That’s "auntie taste." Even someone who adheres to tradition might be labelled an auntie.

Despite the frequent use of this term, it is rarely explored or discussed, and it often comes with some derogatory connotations. The artist Niceaunties hopes to pay tribute to "auntie culture" in a surreal way and highlight the inherent meaning of "auntie".

Their creative inspiration comes from the female spirit of mutual care and family. From cars adorned with sushi - like legs to hot tubs filled with ramen, Niceaunties share a visual feast that combines artificial intelligence and imagination, celebrating this quirky and vibrant world of aunties with admiration and awe.

Cognitive Behaviour

Depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues have been rapidly developing in the information age and are closely related to our daily lives. Alice Gordon attempts to integrate these issues into her works through the use of artificial intelligence, aiming to arouse people's attention to mental health.

"Cognitive Behavior" allows the artist a glimpse into her interpretation of the human psychological state, connecting it to her personal therapy sessions. The artist's creative process combines experimentation and spontaneity, beginning with the transformation of a conceptual or emotional text into an absurd visual narrative.

This iterative approach reveals unexpected aspects of the human psyche. It aims to convey anxiety, insecurity, tension, alienation, and mental fatigue in a way that reflects the psychology of the new generation. The artist refers to her own style as "absurdist surreal lonerism", because she believes its essence lies in the absurd stillness.

Cyberdelia

Cyberdelia was conceived during an artist residency at the Sporobole center to explore the creative potential of artificial intelligence.

The installation consists of 22 videos accompanied by soundscapes co-composed with AI by Roger Tellier-Craig, as well as 22 cards inspired by the major arcana of the tarot. Visitors are invited to consult the oracle by selecting a card and placing it on a reader, triggering the projection of the corresponding video. This interaction offers a new perspective on the posed question, blending chance and intention in a dialogue with the unknown.

The project examines our relationship with AI and its ability to reflect human psychological projections. Its title evokes a mental landscape shaped by the interaction between humans and machines while paying homage to the cyberculture of the 1980s-1990s, a period when technology was envisioned as a means to transcend space, time, and materiality. By integrating the unpredictable transformations generated by AI while preserving the artist’s aesthetic, the work reveals visions that are both sublime and unsettling, reflecting an Anthropocene-marked future. Cyberdelia seeks to re-enchant reality by weaving connections between technology and nature, individual destiny and collective experience.

Portal

Portal gives a look into a dreamlike world, guided by a collective fantasy that takes the shape of a continuously moving representation. In the meandering of algorithmic creation, the observer plays an active role in theirjourney. They direct, guide and question the algorithms,in a dance between biological mind and mechanical mind, where these different intelligence forms answer each other and grow together. With this work,Obvious, in a humanist approach, places the visitor at the heart of the creation process. The aim of this installation isnonetheless to raise questions on the human relationship to the power of technology and the ensuingdependency on it.Yesterday information, today intelligence, and tomorrow creativity?

The Convergence of Breath

"The Convergence of Breaths" is a work generated by a neural network. Its creator, Agoria, said that being at the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, where technology, creativity, and vision converge, is a moment of profound significance. Artificial intelligence is not just a tool; it reflects our humanity, our fears, and our hopes. He expresses gratitude to everyone who has made this possible. The dialogue between art and artificial intelligence has just begun, and he looks forward to the future scenarios.

"O"

"O" is an AI video installation artwork, created as part of a multi - year study on subconscious imagery through the Numaverse project. This award - winning work explores subconscious imagery and its connections with real - life events, healing, creativity, synchronicity, and more.

The theme of "O" is derived from ancient traditions and modern scientific research, bridging timeless wisdom with contemporary understanding. The installation consists of four videos displayed on large curved screens arranged in a circular formation, representing the waking stage, the dream stage (influenced by daily life), the dream stage (archetypes, myths, and symbolism), and deep sleep (collective consciousness and nothingness) respectively.

The artist invites the audience to stand at the center of the circular arrangement of screens to “witness” all four stages with heightened awareness—an act embodying transcendence and enlightenment.

Machine Hallucinations - LNM: Coral

Machine Hallucinations - LNM: Coral offers hypnotic visualizations of a vast collection of images of corals. This data sculpture was inspired by marine ecosystems and the critical state of the coral reefs. Using some 100 million images of corals as the baseline dataset, it highlights the need to preserve corals and ensure their sustainability. Through this initiative, Anadol seeks to shine a light on the environmental emergencies by simulating an oceanic habitat.

结语

Conclusion

This Artificial Intelligence Summit is curated by Dominique Moulon. He hopes that with the help of artificial intelligence, the creativity of art can be completely given over to the imagination — unconstrained by any technology — which is made possible by artificial intelligence.

This can be seen not only from other exhibitions Dominique has been involved in. For example, in "Nano Particles Genesis", the exhibition hopes that artificial intelligence can provide inspiring insights into the research of magnetic nanoparticles. There is also the online exhibition of Ikigai Labs. By integrating cutting - edge technologies with an intuitive interface, it uses AI agents to assist various parties in their work, innovates curation, facilitates dynamic collections, ensures the authenticity of works through the TRACE system, and promotes the collaborative development of art and digital identity. Or in the "CDSA International Media Art Creative Competition", AI can offer inspiring ideas on ways to break through the screen between the real and the virtual, and so on...

The works presented in this exhibition also, to some extent, reflect this. Artists are beginning to tentatively use artificial intelligence to solve some social problems or attempt to connect it with humanity itself. This is exactly what this Artificial Intelligence Summit hopes for: to reflect on the current development of AI, provide a platform for the development of AI art, and try to promote its development in a direction that benefits humanity.
